Preliminary Exercise 3: Mise en scene Codes and Genre Conventions Bubble Diagram

The concept of mise en scene is placing on stage or camera. The purpose is to create a mood that conveys messages and emotions to the viewer. The elements of mise en scene includes props, lighting, wardrobe, makeup, blocking, composition, actor movement, etc.

Barbie-2023

The message of this movie is identity, authenticity, and gender politics. The tones were feisty feminist. The mood in movie first starts with Barbie as a cheerful, kindhearted, and a naive character but as it progresses it changes as she learns about issues with the real-world women struggles. Understanding mise en scene is beneficial to the genre of the film is because it fills narrative details.

Reflection
The media text I created was a presentation. The purpose of this assignments was to learn how mise en scene influences the visual messages within the frames of their film. The technology I used was a laptop. The applications that were used were the elements of mise en scene, which I would say I'm intermediate at. In this exercise I learned the influences of mise en scene elements and it plays a part in creating film.
