Ferdinand de Semiotics the founder of modern linguistics and semiology, and as having laid the groundwork for structuralism and post-structuralism. His theory of a two-tiered reality about language. The first is the langue, the abstract and invisible layer, while the second, the parole, refers to the actual speech that we hear in real life.
Sign is anything that can convey a meaning. Signifier is the object, word, the image or action. Signified the meaning or idea expressed by a sign.
Ferdinand de Saussure theory was beneficial because it gave us important foundation for understanding the structure and meaning informative of signs.
The exercise/table shows that any little symbol can carry it own meaning in a film, big or small. Illustrating that any symbol influences a storyline.
Reflection
The purpose for creating this Semiotic Analysis table was to examine and better understand Ferdinand de Saussure theory and how symbols play a part in film. To create this presentation I had to use office 360 and used my research skills which I have all used in the past which makes me an expert. Each member was in charge of their own side which meant have there own sigh and getting the signifier and signified. I learn how signs can play its role in a film and cause the film to tell a story.
